Card Design

The card design uses a clear, color-coded scarcity system to make each card’s rarity instantly recognizable: Common cards use grey, Uncommon green, Rare blue, Super Rare purple, and Legendary gold. This creates a simple visual hierarchy while making rare cards feel more distinctive and collectible.

Each card prominently features the movie poster, alongside essential information such as the movie title and release date.

To connect the game back to the wider film community, every card also includes direct links to the movie’s Letterboxd and IMDb pages, allowing players to easily explore and learn more about the films they collect.

Pack Openings

The Pack Marketplace was designed as the primary way for players to expand their movie collections. Users can spend their credits on packs containing five cards, with the option to choose between completely random packs or genre-specific packs. Random packs offer the thrill of discovering anything, while premium genre packs let players target categories such as Horror, Romance, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Action.

Since opening packs is such a central part of the CineClub experience, the process was designed to feel exciting and rewarding rather than simply functional. This is why particular attention was given to the pack-opening animations, creating a sense of anticipation and discovery as each card is revealed. The goal was to make every pack opening feel like an event, while encouraging players to keep collecting and discovering new films.

Collection page

The Collection Page was designed as the central hub for everything a player owns. It gives users a complete overview of their movie card collection while making it easy to organize and explore. Cards can be sorted in different ways, including scarcity, release year, genre, director, cast, and more, allowing users to view their collection however they prefer.

A simple filtering system makes it quick to find specific movies or narrow down the collection based on different criteria. The overall goal was to create a clean, intuitive space where players can easily browse, manage, and appreciate everything they have collected, making the Collection Page the best place to truly see their CineClub collection come to life.

Marketplace

The Marketplace was designed as the main hub for buying and selling cards between players. Users can browse active auctions and purchase cards using credits, while also putting cards they no longer want up for sale. This creates a player-driven economy where valuable and rare cards can change hands.

Like the Collection Page, the Marketplace includes flexible sorting and filtering options, allowing users to quickly find cards based on criteria such as scarcity, release year, genre, director, cast, and more. Players can also access their transaction history, giving them a clear overview of their previous purchases and sales. The goal was to make trading simple, transparent, and enjoyable while giving players full control over their growing collection.
